Vittorio, The Skipper

My father bought a sailboat when I was 5 years old. Since then I spent all of the summer vacations sailing in the Mediterranean Sea off the coasts of Italy, mainly souther France, Corsica and Sardinia.

When I was 15 I joint a sailing team racing yachting competitions such as Italian IOR championship, Portofino Yachting Week, Alassio Week and many others on board yachts such as ULDB 50 and Two Tonners. In 1984 I sailed my first Atlantic cross on a 40’ SunFizz from Hyeres to Guadeloupe. In 1987 on board of “Juno” a 50’ ULDB Yacht I won the “Transat des Alizée” across the Atlantic from Casablanca to Guadeloupe. The team evolved 1989 aquiring a “Charles Jourdan” a Whitbread Round the World maxi Yacht skippered by Alain Gabbay which I started to sail with in a program that lead me to participate many international competition such as Columbus Race 1992, Copa del Ray, Cowes week and Fastnet. In 1995 I once again won the “Transat des Alizée” on board “Msabu” a Vallicelli ’65 establishing a speed record for the category still unsurpassed. Since then I started to sail on a 56’ catamaran “Sbandato” berthed in the Caribbean Sea cruising the Windward Island, the British Virgin Islands, Margarita and Los Roques until Panama San Blas Islands. Sold “Sbandato” I participate the building of “Cheoraé” a 50’ Freidis catamaran built in La Rochelle (France) and sailed directly to the windward Islands. “Cheoraé” spent a lot of time around Panama and San Blas Kunayala until it was sold in 2012. In the last years I have been sailing in the Mediterranean on board another catamaran, an Aventura 43’. I spent a month again in the Caribbean between Martinique and Grenada last January 2019 on “Alcadé” a catamaran Nautitech 47’ owned by a friend. I am starting now another passion on board of “Sailing Oceania” a Beneteau Oceanis 50’ but just not too loose the chance I helped “Alcadé” owner in 2019 summer to ferry the boat from Panama to Tahiti.”
